The dirt on protein shakes, juicing, and detoxes for weight loss.
First thing’s first: protein.
Why are you taking it? Because your friend told you to? Because your trainer did? Because some blog you read said it was good for you?
If you cannot give yourself a specific reason for what the protein shake is supposed to do for you, why are you using it?
Then there’s the question of which kind… if you can’t answer this – stop taking it.
If you enjoy it as a drink to “fill you up,” there are a lot of lower calorie options out there.
Onto the topic of juicing…

It’s not going to help you lose weight if you’re not aware of your caloric intake.
Eat your food… enjoy it.
Look everywhere around you, there’s no shortage of products promising “quick fixes” through detoxes.
First of all – one of the PRIMARY FUNCTIONS of your LIVER is to detoxify your bloodstream.
And it does a good job – hence why the human species made it this far.
As for the weight loss… it will cause you a drastic weight loss, sure. A huge chunk of it will be water/lean mass, not fat mass.
But it gets worse than that…
NOBODY DOES DETOXES, LOSES WEIGHT, AND SUCCESSFULLY KEEPS THE WEIGHT OFF.
This is because your caloric intake is so drastically low that you are:
1. Down-regulating your metabolism
2. Depriving yourself
3. Causing unfavorable changes to your leptin sensitivity
Among other things – all the above leads you to REGAIN MORE WEIGHT than when you first began the detox.
